LL Bean Baxter State Down Mittens

My hands have been getting cold, and I am a person who gets chilled easily, so a month ago I purchased my LL Bean Baxter State Down Parka and matching Baxter State Down Mittens. I didn't even know that you could buy down mittens, but boy am I thrilled with my purchase!
Description
These mittens remind me of the kind snow mobiler's wear, except they are more flattering. The mittens come in three colors: Black, Mid Blue and Grape, and I purchased the Mid Blue. They look like true mittens on the outside, with a water resistant shell, soft leather strip that runs across the palm and inside the thumb area, while the outer thumb is lined in a soft velveteen fabric.
The LL Bean site doesn't really describe these mittens, well. Here's what they have to say about them: "Our warmest mittens. Made with a rugged, water-resistant nylon shell and insulated with 650-fill goose down. A built-in waterproof insert ensures your hands will stay dry even in wet winter weather. Palm and thumb feature water-resistant sheepskin leather. Fully lined with brushed polyester tricot. Elastic wrist gathers and internal fleece cuffs help to keep snow out and heat in.
What they don't tell you is that the mitten is really a combination mitten/glove! Some people who are planning on wearing something else inside of these mittens probably won't be too thrilled to find that when you put your hand inside, there are gloved fingers fitted in the mitten. These are made of a very soft and warm fleece material, and I personally was thrilled when I tried them on and felt the glove inside of the mitten!
My Thoughts
I wore these today when the temperatures dipped just below 20 degrees, and I stayed toasty warm outside. I was out walking for around 20 minutes, and my hands didn't get one bit cold. I have small hands, and sometimes even a size small in a mitten will be too large for me, but these Baxter State Down Mittens fit my hands perfectly. I think having the glove inside of the mitten makes them fit better.
I am not one for those Velcro straps that go across the wrist, and appreciate the elastic wrist that these mittens have. They fit just right, not too tight, and the cuff is 2 1/2" long so it's plenty long to keep my hands warm and dry, and rides right up into my Baxter State Parka sleeves without being too bulky. There are plastic snaps on the inside of each glove to secure them together, but there really isn't any way to hang these from a backpack, so that's the only down side to them that I can see.
I love that LL Bean uses only premium 650 goose down fill, and I can feel the lofty down on the top of the mitten, but not very much on the underside. Still, even with all that you would think these would be bulky looking mittens, but they really aren't too bad. My friends are all wanting a pair now too, and at the price of $35 they are a real bargain. LL Bean has a lifetime satisfaction guarantee on all of their products, so you can't go wrong. My personal comfort is worth the extra dollars to spend on these gloves, and I've spent more on leather gloves that didn't keep my hands warm at all, so I am extremely happy with these LL Bean Baxter State Mittens.
